This wine is truly remarkable. It has a soft voluptuous “Viognier” character of melons, lemons and lychees with an excellent length of flavour. Crisp yet rounded, full yet excellent. - Castle Venlaw Syrah 2006 ~ £18.95
A great example of a juicy and delicious Vin de Pays Syrah, Unoaked and wonderfully ripe, with flavours of blackberries, raspberries and just a hint of chocolate. From The Loire Valley
1) Muscadet de Sevre et Maine sur lie 2007 ~ £18.95
A great seafood wine from the Loire valley in France. Left on it’s yeasty lees to extract maximum flavour. A refreshing, lively, white wine.2) Sancerre 2007 Paul Doucet et Fils ~ £32.95
From the famous Loire Valley in France. Solid, herbaceous, Sauvignon fruit which is firm on the palate. A perfect foil to our fish and seafood dishes.3) Pouilly Fume ‘Chateau De L’Abbaye’ 2007 ~ £30.95
The famous cousin of Sancerre, this is a single vineyard Pouilly Fume. The wines from Pouilly have a lovely distinctive minerality, which balances the fresh Sauvignon Blanc fruit.
From Burgundy

A hidden gem, the village of Givry is not quite so famous as others in the region but the wines are as good as the most famous names! Complex. clean beautifully structured chardonnay from an exceptional producer.

A lovely, medium sweet white wine from the gourmet heartland of France-Gascony. Made from Gros Manseng grapes, this is similar to a medium fruity Vouvray. A delicious match with Fois Gras.16) Jurancon Sec 2006 Clos Guirhouilh ~ £24.95
A dry, flavoursome white from the rolling hills South of Pau, in South Eastern France. Smooth mellow stone fruit style, lovely with white meats.
From Bordeaux

A delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle grapes. Crisp, dry, white Bordeaux from Gilles and Stephane Dupuch. A great match with fish and seafood dishes.21) Chateau La Rame St Croix du Mont 2000 (Sweet) ~ £61.95
The ‘Reserve de Chateau’ Produced on the other side of the river from Sauternes. made with the same meticulous care as top quality Sauternes, with many passes
made through the vineyards to pick the super ripe grapes. Honeyed mouth filling palate with a lingering ripe fruit finish. Great with our deserts, cheese or indeed on it’s own.
From Alsace
25) Gewurztraminer 2007 Willm ~ £27.95
The famous ‘spicy’ grape from the eastern side of the Voges mountains. Meticulous wine making preserves the delicious fruity nature of this wine which finishes on the palate with a delightful dryness.26) Pinot Gris ‘Les Princes Abbes’ 2005 Dom Schlumberger ~ £32.95
One of The Alsace regions ‘gourmet’ grape varieties. Delicious complex stone fruit and fresh grape character. Schlumberger have some of the finest vineyard holding in the region.
From The Rhone
30) Condrieu 2005 Betton ~ £71.95
Grown on the steep slopes of the Northern Rhone close to Lyon. Made from 100% Viognier grapes fermented dry. These are hugely rewarding wines, quite austere but brilliant with white meats and fish.
Spain
50) Lagar de Cervera Albarino 2007 ~ £32.95
From the Rias Baixas region of North West Spain. Rick Stein found it to be the perfect match for seafood and fish. Crisp, dry, refreshing and one of our favourites.51) Marques de Murrieta Blanco Reserva Capellania 2003 ~ £40.95
One of the few remaining ‘traditional style’ White Rioja wines. Aged and fermented in barrel for maximum fruit and oak integration. A white that can stand up to lighter red meat dishes.
Italy
55) Alpha Zeta Pinot Grigio 2007 ~ £22.95
A delightful grapey white from the Veneto region of Italy. Made by Kiwi wine maker Matt Thompson. Matt spends a lot of time in the Italian vineyards, sourcing the best grapes for his wine. Fresh and lively.56) Lugana ‘Ca dei Frati 2007 Veneto-Lugana ~ £30.95
Grown close to Lake Lugana in North Eastern Italy. This lively, classy dry white is seriously built for fish dishes.
South Africa
60) Chardonnay Bon Vallon de Wetshof 2007 ~ £22.95
A South African Chardonnay, with all the finesse of a 1er Cru Chablis. Left on its yeasty lees until bottling for extra freshness.61) Quando Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Robertson ~ £24.95
A lovely organic property, situated in The Robertson an hour or so drive north and east of Stellenbosch. Crisp gooseberry flavour with a delicious mineral note, similar to quality Sancerre.
New Zealand
65) Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc 2007 ~ £25.95
Vividly refreshing crisp Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Made by Award winning winemaker Matt Thompson. Lively and refreshing, ideal with sea food, salads and on its own.66) Pinot Gris 2007 Mount Difficulty ~ £36.95
New Zealand is now producing ‘world standard’ Pinot Gris. This lovely luscious, smooth, single vineyard wine is a great expression of the vineyards. Not as tart as Sauvignon Blanc, yet equally refreshing. Grown in the immaculate vineyards of Central Otago.67) Ata Rangi Craighall Chardonnay 2005 Ata Rangi ~ £57.95
Made in the Martinborough region of the North Island by Clive Paton and his team. Made in a ‘Burgundian’ style, barrel fermented, aged and stirred lees. A complex toasty, white flower and nutty palate this is one of New Zealand’s finest white wines.

A nice citrusy style of Chardonnay from the ‘Great Southlands’ of Western Australia. Lovely tasty palate of exotic fruits, great with fish and white meats.73) Sauvignon Blanc Shaw & Smith 2007 Adelaide Hills ~ £30.95
Grown in the cool vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, an environment which concentrates the limey, gooseberry flavours that makes Sauvignon Blanc so appealing.74) Mangan Vineyard Semillon / Sauvignon Blanc Cullen ~ £40.95
From the Margaret River region of Western Australia. Made by Vanya Cullen. Made with Biodynamic principals. This is a pure reflection of grape and place. Crisp fresh fruit with focused aromatics.

80) ‘Doctor L’ Riesling 2006 E Loosen ~ £24.95
Ernie Loosen picked up six awards at the last International Wine Challenge! An amazing achievement. This lovely Riesling has a fruity lime and lemon quality with just a touch of refreshing sweetness.81) Gruner Veltliner 2006 Weingut Felsner ~ £26.95
Super smooth. fresh and racy alternative to Riesling. Dry and gently aromatic in style.
Chile
85) Norte Chico Sauvignon Blanc 2007 ~ £21.95
This wine has a fruity bouquet and the varietal flavour of chardonnay shines through in this un-oaked wine.87) Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc 2006 Casablanca Valley ~ £26.95
One of the finest examples of this grape grown in Chile. Grown on Sancerre clones the vineyards are perfectly situated to provide the fresh crisp apple zest quality that we expect from modern Sauvignon Blanc.
USA - California
90) Seghesio Pinot Grigio 2005 ~ £42.95
Produced in the Northern Sonoma vineyards of the Seghesio family. The family’s origins were as winemakers in Italy. They grow a selection of Italian varieties and this Pinot Grigio is outstanding. Great to drink on it’s own or with lighter salad dishes, chicken and pork.91) McRostie Chardonnay 2003 ~ £47.95
Produced by Steve McRostie at his winery in Sonoma, made from grapes grown in the cool Carneros district of Southern Napa. Lovely buttery citrus flavours.

A brilliant wee Claret. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, produced for early drinking, with a soft black fruit character.201) Chateau Manoir du Gavoux 2004 Cotes de Castillon ~ £27.95
A heady blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc with some mellow Merlot. The ‘Franc’ lends a lovely vibrancy to this red. A delicious foil to any game dish.202) Chateau Guillot 2002 Pomerol ~ £59.95
The seductive vineyards of Pomerol lie just North of the lovely wine town of St Emilion. Understated and unassuming the quality speaks from the glass. Predominantly Merlot, soft and round with a plumy oaky note.203) Chateau Batailley 2001 Pauillac ~ £71.95
A lovely vintage and a delicious Claret! Toasty, vanilla and mocha flavours dance on the palate. Finishes ripe and generous.204) Chateau Cantenac Brown 1997 Margaux ~ £123.95

From The Rhone Valley

A fine Rhone from Domaine des Escaravailles. Lovely herbaceous notes of wood smoke and lavender, the perfect match for lamb, veal and all pork dishes.211) Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de la Cote D’Ange 2004 ~ £50.95
Made predominately from Syrah grapes with a touch of Grenache. Rounded with a hint of wild marjoram, thyme and leather. Complex and rewarding.212) Tavel Rosé 2005 Chateau Segries ~ £26.95
The famous dry delicate Grenache Rose from the beautiful Rhone Valley.
From Burgundy
215) Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2006 Prudhon ~ £27.95
A delightful ‘Pinot’ from’ Henri Prudhon, one of St Aubin’s best producers. Lighter, strawberry and raspberry notes on the nose and plate. Finishes with a pleasing black cherry note.216) Savigny les Beaune 2001 Luc Camus Bruchon ~ £47.95
The Bruchon vineyards are slightly west of Beaune, around the beautiful hamlet of Savigny. This is a lovely maturing Burgundy with a developing earthy dark fruit character. Delicious with lamb and pork roasts.217) Nuit St Georges Domaine Jean Chauvenet 2004 ~ £71.95
Another super vintage, Chauvenet’s wines are firm and muscular. A tad more tannic than the wines from Beaune. This is a lovely match for stronger meat dishes.
Spain

An exceptional, gently wood aged red from high Catalonia in Northern Spain. A complex Syrah based wine, with spice and vivid red fruit flavour.251) Marques de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2002 ~ £42.95
Given barrel ageing to bring out a ménage of fruit and vanilla flavours. From Rioja’s finest bodega.252) Riberal Crianza 2004 Ribera del Duero ~ £33.95
Made from fruit grown on the Spanish side of the river Duero, which downstream in Portugal is famous for being the home of Port. This is big spicy red wine, with great character which complements all meat dishes from pork through to good Scotch beef.253) Rioja Gran Reserva 904 1995 La Rioja Alta ~ £75.95
Classic mature ‘old style’ Gran Reserva Rioja from one of the most highly respected producers. Lovely soft vanilla on the nose with mature spicy fruit palate. Perfect with lighter meats.

A distinguished full bodied red from a great vintage. A lovely full ripe style. Exceptional match to roasted meats, steaks with sauce, or any Italian style pasta!
South Africa
270) Southern Right Pinotage Hamilton Russell 2006 ~ £32.95
Full flavoured Pinotage with a firm backbone and a distinctive bramble and wild raspberry flavour. Anthony Hamilton Russell isfamous for his Pinot Noir, his Pinotage is one of the best from South Africa.271) Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 Stellenbosch ~ £51.95
One of the oldest and most highly regarded wine estates in the Cape. This Cabernet is made by labour intensive ‘old world’ methods that are still used in Bordeaux. Deep brooding Cassis and blackberry wrapped in velvety oak.
New Zealand

A super smooth Merlot from Hawkes Bay, North Island, New Zealand. Grown on the Gimlet Gravels, Merlot ripens well here, and produces a lovely fruity St Emilion style.276) Mount Difficulty Pinot Noir 2006 ~ £49.95
A lively red fruit flavoured Pinot Noir from glorious Central Otago, Surely the most beautiful place to grow grapes on this earth! Named after an old gold miners water race this is exceptionally fine Pinot.
Australia

A delightful sparkling wine from the Beelgara Estate, made in the Riverina Region of The Murray Darling basin. Fresh crisp sparkling with a lively dry finish.421) Quartet by Roederer (California) ~ £54.95
Made from grapes grown in the Anderson Valley, Mendocino County. Growing conditions here are similar to the Champagne region, perfect for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Roederer recognised this and built a magnificent winery!
