Castle Venlaw's Public Rooms
The Library
The library is the hub of the castle. Sit and enjoy a coffee in the morning, a meal at lunchtime (view our
menu), a hot chocolate on a winters afternoon or a malt by the fire after dinner.
This room in the turret of the Castle is very much as it was in the time it was built. Lined with bookcases, dominated by a big fireplace and a real fire in winter.
Our library bar is well stocked and, in addition to draft beers we stock a number of local beers. It goes without saying that we have an interesting collection of malt whiskies as well!
The Restaurant
Whether you are staying in the hotel or just looking for the perfect evening out the restaurant at Castle Venlaw is the place to choose.
For four consecutive years we have been awarded 2 rosettes by the AA for our food - one of just 2 properties to have this award. Whilst maintaining the style and tradition of a property like ours commands, we have introduced an air of relaxed informality to ensure you enjoy the best possible experience.
After drinks in the library you will be shown to your table in the restaurant where we will serve the meal of your choice. Whenever possible we use fresh produce buying from the abundance of Scotland's larder. We like to be flexible. If you would like something that's not on the menu - just ask. We can't promise that we will have what you are wanting but we can promise we will do our best! (View a sample
menu).
Extracts from a review in The Scotsman newspaper 10/09/05
"Both starters were delicious"
"We sampled one another's (main course) choices - they were too good not to share - and agreed they could not be faulted"
"The lack of table conversation was testament to the quality of the food"
The Adam Room
Our Adam Room can be used for
wedding ceremonies, parties,
dinners or meetings. This room is on the ground floor of the hotel and is ideal for parties of between 8 and 25 people. It has a lovely high ceiling with ornamental cornices and a large bay window looks out over Peebles.
